Items That Are Not Allowed

Consumers can come to us for assistance with any garbage, and we take great satisfaction in our ability to do so.

However, some items still can't be thrown away in the dumpsters provided by our company. This encompasses any materials that are flammable, hazardous, or toxic.

If your products fit into one of these categories, you should thoroughly inspect the packaging to look for warning labels or symbols.

Because they are typically fabricated from potentially harmful chemicals or aerosol sprays, the majority of chemical products will unquestionably fit into these categories.

Customer Reviews

If you find any of these symbols on the label of the goods you intend to throw away, you should check the label tag for instructions on properly disposing of the product.

If there are no instructions included, you should contact the sanitation division of your local community to find a facility that collects hazardous trash that is close to where you are.

These things are not allowed in the dumpster that you have rented.

The following are examples of things that are prohibited:

Tires

Due to the harm that tires can create in landfills, they are not allowed to be thrown away in dumpsters.

Due to the accumulation of methane gas within the tire's interior surface, tires tend to float to the top of landfills over time.

As the methane gas continues to build up in the tires, it threatens the plastic liners and ventilation pipes surrounding the tires.

Tires must be dropped off at local recyclers or businesses specializing in rubber recovery in your area.

Batteries

Batteries are particularly hazardous due to the high lead-acid content often found in their composition.

Due to the high amounts of lead and other heavy metals, hazardous waste from batteries and other items should never be combined.

If you find a dead car battery, take it to an auto parts store or a recycling center recognized for its responsible practices.

Stumps

Generally speaking, tree stumps are not permitted in dumpsters or landfills due to the fact that they are quite cumbersome and frequently cause damage to the liners that line landfills.

There are a number of different approaches that can be used in order to get rid of tree stumps, including the following:

  • You can purchase or hire a wood chipper to shred the tree stump into mulch for use in your garden or among the trees in your community.
  • You can hire a landscaping company to remove the tree stump for you or call the recycling center in your area to find out whether they take tree stumps as part of their services.

Ties for Railroads

Because they contain creosote, a substance that is generated from pitch tar and that, in the wrong hands, has the potential to be dangerous, railroad ties are one of the items that are prohibited.

When installing railroad lines, pieces of lumber treated with creosote and used as railway connections are called "railroad connections."

In most cases, garbage dumps will not accept them, and they ought to be disposed of in accordance with the regulations of the neighborhood, the state, and the federal government.

Burning or mulching railway connections is not recommended since the creosote coating on these components might emit harmful chemicals into the air.

Paints & Lacquers

Paints and lacquers are prohibited because they may contain toxic substances like lead or mercury, particularly older formulations manufactured before the 1990s.

This is especially true of older paints and lacquers. In addition, they are able to cause damage to or alter the color of equipment, such as garbage trucks and dumpsters.

Consult our guide if you need specific instructions on appropriately recycling or disposing of unused paint containers.

Oils

Oils utilized in autos and oils utilized as fundamental industrial lubricants are both examples of oils that are prohibited.

Recycling of used motor oil is possible through a range of national retailers as well as many auto parts shops and mechanic businesses.

Asbestos

Because of the danger, it poses to people's health, the majority of states in the United States have banned the disposal of asbestos in landfills.

It is a product used to prevent fires and can be found in older homes as well as in various industrial things.

Customer Reviews

The removal of asbestos-containing items from private residences or commercial buildings is also fraught with peril and must be performed only by trained experts with appropriate credentials.

Virus-Carrying Debris

Products created or utilized in healthcare settings such as hospitals, clinics, or medical offices might be considered infectious waste.

This can include fluids from the body that have been tainted.

Used bandages, hypodermic needles, and blood vials should be disposed of via trash haulers licensed to handle, transport, and eventually dispose of medical waste.

Soils and absorbents that have been contaminated

According to the superfund guidelines established by the federal government, polluted soils should be treated or regulated.

Regular municipal solid waste carriers are unable to be used to dispose of polluted soils since these soils contain dangerous substances.

Infected absorbents need to be processed or dealt with in the same way by specialized contamination material processors in order to avoid further contamination.

Ink & Resins

The ink from printers and pens, as well as resins, are not allowed to be thrown away in dumpsters because they are hazardous to the machinery that processes them and the contents of the containers.

The most efficient way to eliminate these substances is to take them to recycle centers or office supply businesses with special drop-off sites for hazardous materials.

Industrial Drums

Drums designed for industrial use are often manufactured and put to use as a means of warehousing the waste products of a variety of commercial and industrial activities.

These compounds are sometimes regarded as hazardous.

Thus, their disposal requires the involvement of haulers who have their licenses verified and industry professionals.

Drums disinfected before being utilized again as scrap metal could be an option.
