It's hard to give a broad answer to this question without knowing more about what you need. About four pick-up trucks' worth of trash can fit in a 10 yard roll-off container. They are often used for small projects like remodeling a bathroom or kitchen, cleaning out a garage or basement, replacing a small roof up to 1500 square feet, or taking down a small deck up to 500 square feet.
About eight pick-up trucks' worth of trash can fit in a 20-yard roll-off container. They are often used to remove carpet or flooring from a large house, clean out a large garage or basement, replace a roof up to 3000 square feet, or take down a deck up to 400 square feet.
About 12 pick-up trucks' worth of trash can fit in a 30 yard roll-off container. They are often used for big home additions, building a new house, tearing down a garage, replacing siding or windows on a small to medium-sized house, and so on.
About 16 pick-up trucks' worth of trash can fit in a 40-yard roll-off container. They are often used for big projects like building or remodeling a big house, cleaning out a business, or replacing the siding or windows on a big house.
A 10–15-cubic-yard dumpster is just the right size to get rid of the trash from a small-scale remodeling job. The standard size is between 14 and 16 feet long and wider than 7 feet. The length is between 14 and 16 feet, the width is 7 feet, and the height is between 4 and 5 feet.
The 20-cubic-yard metal dumpster should be big enough for medium-sized construction projects or cleanouts. The receptacle is 22 feet long and more than 7 feet wide all the way around. It's a little less than five feet tall.
The 30-cubic and 40-cubic container rentals are made for big clean-up jobs, like remodeling a big house or building a new building. It can haul about the same amount of trash as 9–10 pickup trucks. They are perfect for commercial buildings or new buildings that make a lot of trash and debris.
